Preparation
Make sure the surface is sound, clean, dry and free from grease and treat any mould or lichen as directed.
- You can apply Leyland Truguard Smooth Masonry Paint directly over bare and previously painted surfaces as long they're clean, sound and firm. Chalky, underbound surfaces should be scraped, dry brushed and then given a coat of primer.
- Thoroughly remove any limewash or distemper.
- If you're creating dust, wear a suitable face mask.
- Test a small area before applying primer to the whole surface. If it dries to a glossy film, thin with one part of White Spirit to two parts of primer and then test another small area.
- It is important that you get a non-glossy surface before you start painting.
Application
Always perform a test on a small inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility, and we recommend following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
- Stir well before use. Don't thin the paint, unless you're painting absorbent surfaces, when a small amount of clean water can be added.
- Apply two full coats, allowing 4-6 hours between coats under normal drying conditions.
- Suitable for application by brush, roller, conventional and airless spray.
- Don't apply when the air or surface temperatures are below 10˚C, or when it is likely to rain.
